I attended Donna's workshop at Linden Plantation in MS and the venue was so beautiful and inspiring. Our hosts, Cameron and Whitney Dinkins offered southern hospitality at its finest from opening their historic home and grounds,providing delicious meals around their family table, and sharing their life experiences. I had never done plein air painting before, but I will from now on. Donna opened my eyes to a new way of seeing and experiencing nature. The light and colors viewed while painting onsite are so rich and vibrant, while a photo taken at the time looks so washed out. Donna provides instruction to meet each person at their own individual artist level. It was a great weekend, I learned a lot and hope to do it again in the future. Peggy Burns

Thanks Peggy. I love being outside and I love helping others to learn to enjoy the outdoors by painting. Your paintings are great. I am posting one from the workshop for next week.

Workshop Description:

This workshop focuses on landscape painting developed from plein air studies and reference photos. Emphasis is on creating value sketches with color notes, which can be completed in the studio or used as studies for larger works.

The workshop takes place at Linden Plantation. Participants will enjoy accommodations in an old-fashioned plantation setting with antique furnishings and fine dining.

Painting Along Lake Washington

Join Donna McGee for a Fall Painting Workshop at Linden
Plantation on Lake Washington in the Mississippi Delta. Participants will enjoy accommodations in an
old-fashioned Plantation setting which includes: gourmet meals on fine china, luxurious antique furnishings, sunsets over the cypress banks of the lake, and plenty of
delta hospitality.

The Painting Along Lake Washington experience will offer painting from a barge, anchored in the Cypress trees on Lake Washington.

Donna will share her approach to painting en plein air in oil and acrylics, along with her palette set-up, color mixing system, and composition. Topics include mixing the colors of nature, drawing with shapes and values, understanding color temperature and value relationships.

Donna will share her personalized color language without relying heavily on “tube” color. The workshop will target methods of developing a wide range of colors and values in oil and acrylic using 6 primary colors plus white. Donna will share her palette set-up and color
mixing system as well as methods for creating the colors found in nature. Additionally, she will share methods for
learning to “see” color when observing subjects in natural light. Topics include creating the colors of nature,
